Why is avast! GrimeFighter not compatible with my system?

Currently, avast! GrimeFighter cannot run on all systems. If your computer is not compatible with avast! GrimeFighter, it should not appear within avast! Antivirus 2014 in the Tools panel or, if you use the avast! GrimeFighter as a standalone application, you should receive a message from us like the one below.

Figure I.

If you meet all the basic system requirements and avast! GrimeFighter is still not compatible with your system, this can be attributed to the following issues:

  • avast! GrimeFighter does not run on any Apple Mac OS, or any other system which isn't specified as supported.

  • avast! GrimeFighter is not supported by all graphics cards.

  • avast! GrimeFighter does not support RAID. If a RAID controller is detected currently, avast! GrimeFighter does not run as a precaution to avoid breaking any RAID striping, potentially resulting in a loss of data.

  • avast! GrimeFighter requires a constant Internet connection. If you’re having connection issues, try connecting to your router with an Ethernet cable for a more stable connection.

But don't worry, we are actively working on supporting as many computers as we can. Please check again when we next update avast! GrimeFighter to see if your computer will be supported by then. We hope to soon add Windows 8 / 8.1 to our supported systems as we work around the system’s default encrypted disk setting which currently prevents us from successfully scanning your computer.

If after 10 minutes you still do not see GrimeFighter as an option in your Tools panel and you meet all the system requirements, then avast!
