  • avast! Rescue Disk is a bootable USB flash drive or CD with malware removal tool that you can create in the avast! user interface. It can be useful, for example, when you need to remove some kind of lockscreen ransomware that uses a full-screen image or webpage to stop you from accessing anything on the computer, or a file infector which prevents avast! 2014 from being installed.

What is improved in avast! 2014 ?

avast! 2014 comes with these major improvements:

  • avast! Firewall shipped with some avast! 2014 premium products has a new engine, with technology for IPv6 support, and follows Windows 7 and 8 standards related to the latest Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS).

  • avast! SafeZone shipped with all avast! 2014 premium products brings a new Chromium browser with full HTML 5 support. It also has an automatic switch for pre-defined online shopping and banking web sites, and allows you to bookmark additional applications from your computer.

  • avast! Setup is enhanced with self-defense which prevents malware from stopping setup processes, provides micro-updates to patch individual program components, and has easier-to-understand messaging for users if an installation fails. avast! 2014 is now also available as an online installer, which downloads and install only the actual program components you need.

  • avast! Hardened Mode brings an option for inexperienced users to further lock down the security of the computer in the avast! 2014 settings. If enabled, users can select between "Aggressive" mode which doesn't allow any non-whitelisted files in avast! file reputation database (e.g. unknown files) to run, and "Moderate" mode which allows any other files except those with low reputation in avast! file reputation database (e.g. low prevalence files) to run.

  • avast! DeepScreen enables deep scanning for better real-time decisions on any file deemed suspicious due to prevalence and/or emergence, while automatically executes the data in the Sandbox.

  • DynaGen technology uses automatic malware classification based on execution traces. Suspicious patterns are automatically observed in the Sandbox and their traces are compared to known "clean" and “dirty” traces. When an ambiguous or suspicious code is identified, a signature is created and sent to customers via our streaming updates.

  • Performance optimizations in a program code for more efficient memory use which now results in 10x faster webpage scanning and at least 2x and faster scanning of executable files. avast! 2014 also uses smaller data files for virus signatures sent to customers in our streaming updates, so it will result in a smaller overall download.

I want to install avast! 2014 but there are two setup files for the same antivirus software available for download on your website. Which one should I use?

Starting from avast! 2014 two setup files for each antivirus product are available for download:

  • Online installer (avast_product_name_setup_online.exe) is a compact setup program with a file size of about 5 MB, which will download and install only the actual program components you need. The installation speed strongly depends on the Internet connection type and parameters. Online installer is recommended for one time installation.

  • Standard installer (avast_product_name_setup.exe) contains all files needed to quickly install all program components, and its file size is about 100 MB. Because some data, like the virus definitions database, can be outdated in this setup package, avast! 2014 will automatically download the latest updates once the installation is finished. Standard installer is recommended for multiple installations.

My computer is infected with some malware which prevents avast! 2014 from being installed. How can I install avast! 2014 on my computer?

When a computer is infected with malware, like some kind of lockscreen ransomware which uses a full-screen image or webpage to stop you from accessing anything on your computer, or a file infector which prevents avast! 2014 from being installed, you can try to remove infected files from your computer by using the avast! • Once you have installed avast! 2014 on another (uninfected) Windows computer with an Internet connection, insert USB flash drive to its USB port, open the avast! user interface, click 'Tools', select 'Rescue Disk', and then click the 'USB' button to create a bootable avast! Rescue Disk.

  • When it's done, make sure that the infected computer is turned off, insert USB flash drive with avast! Rescue Disk to its USB port, turn the infected computer on, and as soon as it's powered up, invoke the Boot menu from the BIOS initialization screen to start your computer from the USB flash drive.

  • As soon as your computer boots from the external USB flash drive, a message telling you to "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." will be shown for a while. Press any key as soon as the message disappears, and the avast! Rescue Disk wizard will guide you through the rest of the malware removal process.

  • When the malware has been removed from the computer, you can try to install avast! 2014 once again.

Din browser er forældet.
