avast! has again proven its speed and accuracy in the latest Virus Bulletin test, taking home another VB100 award. avast! Professional Edition (version 4.8) had the fastest scanning speed of all the top 10 scoring products in Virus Bulletin's detection test.

Virus Bulletin examined 26 antivirus products on computers running Microsoft Server 2008 Standard Edition.

“Scanning speeds were excellent, even with more thorough settings selected, and detection rates pretty superb too,” reads the October issue of Virus Bulletin.

avast! successfully distinguished between the VB malware samples and clean files, catching 100 percent of the “In the wild” viruses without triggering any false alarms.

These results show the strengths of the avast! antivirus engine, said Ondrej Vlcek, Chief Technology Officer at ALWIL Software, makers of the avast! suite of antivirus products. “avast! Home Edition would have exactly the same results as the Professional Edition as they use the same antivirus engine, but the Home Edition doesn't run on a server operating system.”
