avast! 8.x: Inserting the license file into avast! Pro Antivirus

Once you have purchased avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x, an e-mail with your license file attached will be sent to the e-mail address specified during the purchase process. These instructions for inserting the license assume that you have already installed avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x on your computer. There are two ways to insert the license file into avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x:

The preferred procedure is very simple and recommended for most users of avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x. Just proceed as follows:

1. Open the e-mail containing your license file, and depending on your mail client software, open the attached License.avastlic. For example, in Microsoft Outlook just double-click the attached file License.avastlic.

   Note:
   Some mail client software or web based e-mail accounts may not have built-in support for opening attachments. In this case you need to save the attached License.avastlic file somewhere on your computer, where you can easily locate it later, e.g on your Windows Desktop, and then just double-click on it.

2. Then a dialog box will open containing your License File Information. Click 'Yes' to insert the license file with the displayed parameters.

   After successfully inserting the license, this will be confirmed in another information dialog box. Just click 'OK'.

3. Right-click on the avast! orange ball icon in the system tray and select 'Subscription information' from the menu.

4. The YOUR SUBSCRIPTION screen appears in the avast! user interface where you can check if your Subscription status is ACTIVE and that the expiration date corresponds to the purchased license.

Once the license is inserted into avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x, you can continue to receive automatic updates for 12, 24, or 36 months from the date of purchase, depending on the purchased license. At the end of that time, it will be necessary to purchase and insert a new license file for further use of the program and to remain protected against the very latest threats.

Note:
Normally you can install and use avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x for a free 30-day trial period. For further use of the program it is necessary to purchase the license.

The alternative procedure may be useful if you experience some problems with the previous method, e.g. if the *.avastlic file extension isn't associated with avast! Pro Antivirus 8.x but with another software application in your system environment, etc. In this case you need to follow these steps:

1. Open the e-mail containing your license file, and depending on your mail client software, save the attached License.avastlic somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it later. For example, in Microsoft Outlook right-click the attached License.avastlic file, select 'Save As' from the context menu,

2. Right-click on the avast! orange ball icon in the system tray and select 'Subscription information' from the menu,

   ...or double-click the avast! Pro Antivirus desktop icon to open the avast! user interface, click 'MAINTENANCE' tab on the top, and from the menu on the left select 'Subscription'.

3. The YOUR SUBSCRIPTION screen will appear. Click the 'Insert license file' button.

4. A dialog window will open where you can browse the files on your computer. Locate the file License.avastlic, e.g. on your Windows Desktop (see instructions in step 1.), and click 'Open'.

5. A License File Information dialog appears. Click 'Yes' to insert the license file with the displayed parameters.
