Well, at very first look, there is something wrong with these tests - I can't believe avast! can miss nearly 10% of boot viruses (well, actually two  ;) )...

As far as this link shows
http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?table
AVG has made it only once on the 100% list

And the test was conducted quite early this year so it is not too be taken too seriously and ther results seem to be strange as almost every other av has 100% detection rates.

If the AVAST!4 comparative test on
http://www.pcmweb.nl/pcm/tabellen/antivirus.htm
is real, is it posible that the University of Magdeburg and GEGA IT-Solutions GbR post the virus list and the companies could found a "solution" for that missed of viruses to be found?

Can avast be so low in some features?
I´m not so sure...  ;)

I have reviewed the "comparative" tests from pcmweb, and virus bulletin and others.
AV tests are a funny thing.  It is most important to look at the "overall" results of an AV, not one or two specific areas which appear to come in low.  Depending on which source runs the tests, you will find the results are different.  In one test Avast would come in very high in most areas, and in another, it seems to have hit rock bottom.
Anti-virus tests are like statistics......it depends on how you look at them.

Avast is a well structured, reliable, and stable av program which I trust and use in 2 of my machines.
I have both Home and Pro editions running without a hitch.

Avast has discovered viruses that have been on one of my machines a very long time in an unopened email that McAfee, Norton, and CAI missed!  Even Panda online failed to detect it.

I don't think that there is a "perfect" av out there with 100% detection rate in ALL categories.  With new viruses finding their way to our computers all the time, an av is only as effective as the engine and definitions.

Avast engine is excellent, and the Avast team is quick to put out updates as often as necessary.

Yes, I am an AVAST fan, maybe it is because AVAST works for me.

The advice I give when someone asks me to recommend a program is.....Use what works for YOU.

AVAST WORKS FOR ME!

Just my opinion.

I think like techie101. avast works perfectly for me too. But, if it´s posible, sense of security is as important as the security itself... You can sleep better with a av updated and liable...  ;)

well, AVAST is number 13 on a list of 28 virus scanners and 19 anti-trojans...sound not to bad isn't it ?

if you see only the "verry big boys" in the AV scene are ranked higher.

And most of the lesser known AV's fall way behind. Even Bit-defender and NOD32 and E-trust , Norman etc...are behind AVAST (and there supposed be VERRY good scanners also)...

So i think the score is good after all.

although i thought (hoped) AVAST 4 would score better  :-\ , and may even beat the "boss" Kaspersky. wouldn't that be great ?

I would really like to hear what AVAST vendors think of this test. and post there comments.
