Updtates expiration
« on: July 16, 2003, 05:41:54 AM »
What is the meaning of Updates expiration? (See Avast About topic)
The user won´t be able to update after this time?
Will the application be a shareware after that?

Yes, until the time he registers again and inserts the new license key into avast!.

Ok, I suppose that newer versions would be free too and the features will not be changed. Several applications change their features after a small free-period. Some examples? MailWasher, ZoneAlarm, AVG (See forum http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=663).

The user is picked in a trap: use the program, like it and then it becomes Shareware...
By now, no other antivirus is so good as avast. I hope it wil be free in the future  8).

There are really NO plans to change our avast! HOME policy in the future. The annual re-registration is just for us - to know (at least approximately) how many users we have and if they still use avast! :D

Zone Alarm Free is always free! >:(

Have you used ZA since earlier versions? The free new ones lost some features comparing to the the earliers... Ok, I agree, ZA is still free for home users but with less features... I hope avast won´t loose its...
