Error Message When Updating
« on: September 20, 2003, 02:15:29 PM »
Whenever I try either iavs update or program update, I receive the following message:  "A device attached to the system is not functioning.  Can not start incremental update".  All of my other programs on my computer are working and they can all update properly - i.e. my internet connection is fine.  Any ideas?  Thank you for your time.

I have a similar problem: every time I try to update my Avast 4, I get the error message "Package broken". How can I solve this?

GSB: This could be solved by copying certain file over setiface.dll file. If you're using avast 4.1, you should copy file setiface.ovr. If you're using avast 4.0, you should copy file setiXXXXXXXX.vpu. All of those files reside in avast4\setup directories.

Sungame: There may be many different problems. You have two ways:
a) wait for my help
b) uninstall avast, download latest setup and reinstall.

In both cases, I would like to get your setup.log file, which resides in avast4\setup directory. I would also like to know what os/language are you using. Please send it to my address: kubecj at asw DoT cz

thanks,

I could be way out in left field here but it appears to me that since you're using your college internet for a connection; there could be a firewall problem or there is some blocking software installed that could be causing the problem you're experiencing...  8)

You can configure how avast asks for updates... but indeed, the automatic for virus databases is the best one.
Please, post the last 200-250 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log
