Problems after upgrade
« on: September 23, 2003, 03:46:03 AM »
A few days ago I posted a topic whereas after the last upgrade Avast display:
Unknown error.
Program cannot set property into main Storage

A suggestion was made to delete the file avast4.mdb. I tried this but it did not work.

A couple of months ago I posted a similar problem for an installation on Win98 and it was suggested then that I chage the item "database" in the avast4.ini file from ODBC to XML. This solution worked fine then.  After a lot of headaches I discovered that the upgrade changed this item in the ini file back to ODBC.   I changed it  back to XML and all is marry again.

Just thought I should pass this along.

I would be interested if it is not a lengthy explanation why this is so.

Thanks in advance;

Luis

Roman, I suggest a new FAQ topic for the ODBC drivers... (just download from Microsoft is not enough for users' troubles... :)

But there are really only two solutions to fix problem with storage: update ODBC and drivers for it or use other storage (only XML based storage is currently available).

I have posted request to add some article about ODBC into our FAQs but with no effect  :-[ I'll do it once again...
