Why is avast! GrimeFighter not compatible with my system?

Currently, avast! GrimeFighter cannot run on all systems. If your computer is not compatible with avast! GrimeFighter, it should not appear inside avast! Antivirus 2014 in the Tools panel or, if you use the avast! GrimeFighter as a standalone application, you should receive a message from us like the one below.

Figure I.

If you meet all the basic system requirements and avast! GrimeFighter is still not compatible with your system, this can be attributed to the following issues:

  • avast! GrimeFighter does not run on any Apple Mac OS, or any other system which isn't specified as supported.

  • avast! GrimeFighter is not supported by all graphics cards.

  • avast! GrimeFighter does not support RAID. If a RAID controller is detected currently, avast! GrimeFighter does not run as a precaution to avoid breaking any RAID striping, potentially resulting in a loss of data.

  • avast! GrimeFighter requires a constant Internet connection. If you’re having connection issues, try connecting to your router with an Ethernet cable for a more stable connection.

  • Support for Windows 8 / 8.1 is on our short term roadmap as we find a way around the system’s default encrypted disk setting which prevents us from successfully scanning your computer.

But don't worry, we are actively working on supporting as many computers as we can. You should check back when we next update avast! GrimeFighter, we are pretty sure that your computer will be supported by then.

Why doesn’t avast! GrimeFighter show up inside avast! Antivirus 2014 in the Tools section?

If you do not see a 'GrimeFighter' option upon opening avast! Antivirus 2014 user interface and selecting ' Tools', please check again in 5-10 minutes. If after 10 minutes you still do not see GrimeFighter as an option in your Tools panel and you meet all the system requirements, then avast!
