How to check if Avast 2015 is installed, up to date, and protecting your computer

When contacting Avast Technical Support with a technical issue, you should first check if Avast 2015 is installed, up to date and working properly.

How to check if Avast 2015 is installed

  1. On the Windows 8 Start Screen or Desktop simultaneously press the Win + X keys on your keyboard. Select Programs and Features from the menu displayed in the bottom left corner.
  2. Wait for the list of installed programs to fully load. If Avast 2015 is installed on your computer it will appear in the list.

How to check if Avast 2015 is licensed (or registered)

Information about your license status (or registration status, if Avast Free Antivirus 2015 is installed) can be determined as follows:

  1. Right-click on the Avast orange ball icon in the system tray and select Subscription information (or Registration information) from the menu,
  2. The Your Subscription screen in the Avast user interface open, ...where you can check if your Subscription status is ACTIVE (or Current status is REGISTERED) and that the validity date is correct.

Current version of the Program, Engine and Virus Definitions (VPS) can be determined as follows:

  1. Right-click on the Avast orange ball icon in the system tray and select About Avast from the menu,
  2. The About Avast screen in the Avast user interface will open, ...where you can view information about installed Avast Product, current Program version and Virus definitions version (includes Engine).

Current protection status of Avast 2015 can be determined as follows:

  1. Right-click on the Avast orange ball icon in the system tray and select Open Avast user interface from the menu, ...or double-click the desktop icon of installed Avast antivirus software to open the Avast user interface.
  2. From the main menu, select Overview. If you see that You are protected, it means that your Avast 2015 is up to date and protecting your computer against malware. Otherwise, if you see an Attention message or that You are unprotected, please click the Resolve All button on the right side to start protecting your system.
