How to uninstall Avast 2016 using Control Panel

This uninstall method uses the Avast Setup Wizard via the Control Panel list of installed programs.

Before you begin, make sure that you are logged into Windows with administrator permissions, and no other programs are running in Windows.

  1. Press the Win + X keys on your keyboard and select Programs and Features from the menu displayed in the bottom left corner.
  2. Right-click on your edition of Avast, then select Uninstall in the context menu.
  3. Press the Win + X keys on your keyboard and select Programs and Features from the menu displayed in the bottom left corner.
  4. Select your edition of Avast, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.
  5. From the Start menu select Control Panel.
  6. Click Programs and Features (or Uninstall a program under Programs).
  7. Select your edition of Avast, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.
  8. From the Start menu select Control Panel (or Settings and then Control Panel).
  9. Click Programs and Features (or Uninstall a program under Programs).
  10. Select your edition of Avast, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.
  11. From the Start menu select Control Panel (or Settings and then Control Panel).
  12. Click Add or Remove Programs (or double-click Add or Remove Programs).
  13. Select your edition of Avast, then click Change/Remove in the bottom-right corner of the highlighted selection.
  14. When the Avast Setup wizard appears, click Uninstall at the bottom of the screen.
  15. Click Yes to continue uninstalling the program.
  16. After the uninstall is complete, select Restart computer.

When the computer restarts Avast 2016 is uninstalled. Keep in mind that your computer is now unprotected against malware or other threats.

Please follow the steps below to uninstall Avast 2016 from your computer.

  1. Press the Win + X keys on your keyboard and select Programs and Features from the menu displayed in the bottom left corner.
  2. Right-click on your edition of Avast, then select Uninstall in the context menu.
  3. On the Windows 8 Start Screen or Desktop simultaneously press the Win + X keys on your keyboard and select Programs and Features from the menu displayed in the bottom left corner.
  4. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.
  5. From the Start menu select Control Panel.
  6. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if using Category view, ...or click Programs and Features if using Large/Small icons view.
  7. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.
  8. From the Start menu select Control Panel, ...or select Settings and then click Control Panel if using the Classic Start Menu.
  9. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if using Control Panel Home view, ...or double-click Programs and Features if using Classic view.
  10. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.
  11. From the Start menu select Control Panel, ...or select Settings and then click Control Panel if using the Classic Start Menu.
  12. Click Add or Remove Programs if using Category view, ...or double-click Add or Remove Programs if using Classic view.
  13. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Change/Remove in the bottom-right corner of the highlighted selection.
  14. When the Avast Setup wizard appears, click Uninstall at the bottom of the screen.
  15. Click Yes to confirm uninstallation of Avast 2016.
  16. After the uninstallation is successfully completed, select Restart computer to reboot immediately. Or, select Restart later if you wish to reboot manually after finishing your work.

When the computer is restarted Avast 2016 is uninstalled. Keep in mind that your computer is now without protection against malware and other threats.
