How to use SecureLine VPN

SecureLine VPN enables you to connect to the internet via secure Avast VPN servers which protects your connection and ensures your privacy. This article describes how to use the standalone version of SecureLine VPN. If you use the SecureLine VPN component in Avast Antivirus, read the following article:

Connect to SecureLine VPN

SecureLine VPN can be used any time you want to connect to the internet with extra security and privacy and is especially recommended when you are connected to a public or unsecured wireless network.

  1. Double-click the SecureLine VPN icon on your desktop to open the application.
  2. After going through the tutorial, click Connect.
  1. Click the SecureLine VPN icon on the right side of the menu bar and select Open Avast SecureLine VPN.
  2. After going through the tutorial, click Connect.

You are connected to the SecureLine VPN server. You can also change the default VPN server location if needed.

Connect to a different location

SecureLine has servers in several locations which means you can bypass geolocation restrictions as well as access your favorite content while traveling.

To connect to a different location, select the location of the VPN server in the drop-down menu next to the Connect button then click Connect.

Manage SecureLine VPN settings

  1. Click the gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the SecureLine VPN window.
  2. Adjust your preferred settings:
    • When connected to an unsecured WiFi: specify what SecureLine VPN should do if you connect to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.
    • Language: select a language for the content displayed in the SecureLine VPN interface.
    You can also view the duration of your subscription at the bottom of the screen.
  1. Click the SecureLine VPN icon on the right side of the menu bar and select Preferences....
  2. Preferences are divided into three sections:
    • General: set SecureLine VPN to launch at user login and update it using beta channel if needed.
    • Account: check and manage your subscription.
    • Wi-Fi: specify what SecureLine VPN should do if you connect to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.
