How to access the Avast Setup wizard for Avast Antivirus via your Windows Control Panel

You can access the Avast Setup wizard via your Control Panel list of installed programs. This is useful if you want to check if the program is installed, change or update your installation, or uninstall the program.

Accessing the Avast Setup wizard

  1. Press the Win + X keys simultaneously, and select Programs and Features from the list that appears.
  2. Click on your edition of Avast so that it's highlighted, and select Uninstall or Change from the tabs in the bar above.

  1. Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
  2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if you're using the default Category view, ...or click Programs and Features if the Control Panel is switched into the Large/Small icons view.
  3. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.

  2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if you're using the default Control Panel Home view, or double-click Programs and Features if the Control Panel is switched into the Classic view.
  3. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Uninstall/Change in the bar above the listed programs.

  3. Select your edition of Avast by clicking it once, then click Change/Remove in the bottom-right corner of the highlighted selection.

    • Update - checks for the latest update for your program version and virus definitions.
    • Repair - checks all Avast program data and reloads any which may be damaged or missing.
    • Modify - allows you to add or remove program components.
