General: Identifying and preventing fraudulent sales of Avast products
How to identify and avoid fraudulent sales of Avast products
Unfortunately, a number of websites that perform fraudulent sales of Avast products exist.
If you suspect you have made a purchase from a fraudulent website under the pretense of purchasing an Avast product, or you want to ensure you are purchasing genuine Avast products, refer to the sections in this article:
Which websites are known as fraudulent
For your protection, we have prepared the following list of known scam sites. These websites have no connection with Avast software and are not authorized resellers of our products:
To report a website that is not already on our list, contact Avast sales
When to suspect a fraudulent sale of an Avast product
Scam websites often offer license keys or subscriptions for Avast free products for prices similar to Avast premium software. In other cases, customers receive email invoices from scam sites with no mention of Avast software. Instead, a list of programs that the customer has not agreed to buy is offered.
Some scam websites may offer a "lifetime" license or subscription or a "Gold Package" which are not offered within the Avast product range. Therefore, any money you send to these sites will not result in a genuine paid Avast subscription or license.
Another way to identify fraudulent sites is if the site includes a message at the bottom of the page, typically in small lettering, similar to the following:
"This website has no affiliation whatsoever with the owner of this software program, and provides ONLY a link to the software program."
If you encounter a website you believe is fraudulently selling Avast software, contact Avast sales so that we can investigate and add the website to our list of known fraudulent websites if required.
