When to suspect a fraudulent sale of Avast products

Scam websites often offer license keys for Avast free products but charge the customer prices similar to Avast premium software. In other cases, customers receive email invoices from scam sites with no mention of Avast software. Instead, a list of programs that the customer has not agreed to buy is offered.

Some scam websites may offer a "lifetime" license or "Gold Package" which are not offered within the Avast product range. Therefore any money you send to these sites will not result in a genuine paid Avast license. One clear way to spot a fraudulent site is via a message at the bottom of the website, often in small lettering, similar to the following:

"This website has no affiliation whatsoever with the owner of this software program, and provides ONLY a link to the software program."

Where to purchase Avast products

Digital River and Nexway are the only official online e-commerce partners of Avast. If you purchase an Avast license online from the official Avast website, your credit card statement will always contain one of the following credit card descriptors: DRIAvast, Digital River, DRI, DR*Avast or Nexwaysoftware.com, Avast/Nexway, Nexway SAS, Nexway S.A.R.L.

What to do if you purchase an Avast product from a fraudulent website

If you are unsure about the validity of your purchase, please contact Avast sales. If you have purchased from one of the websites listed above, it is advised to contact your credit card issuer immediately. Additionally, you may wish to contact your local law enforcement organization for statistical monitoring.
