How to uninstall Avast Mac Security

To uninstall Avast Mac Security via the menu bar, follow the detailed steps in the Preferred section. To uninstall Avast Mac Security via the setup file, follow the detailed steps in the Alternative section.

Deleting or moving Avast Mac Security to the Trash does not uninstall the program.
  1. Open the Avast user interface, click Avast Mac Security in the Menu bar on the top-left of the screen, and select Uninstall Avast.
  2. If you are asked for authentication, type your administrator Name and Password.
  3. When the uninstallation is finished, click Quit and Avast Mac Security is removed from your Mac.

To uninstall Avast Mac Security, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Avast Menu bar icon on the top-right of the screen and select Open Avast to open the Avast user interface, ...alternatively, go to Applications, and double-click the orange Avast icon.
  2. Click Avast Mac Security in the Menu bar on the top-left of the screen, select Uninstall Avast, ...and when asked to confirm the uninstallation, click Uninstall.
  3. If you are asked for authentication, type your administrator Name and Password and click OK to proceed.
  4. Confirm installation. If you have open browsers, click Quit application and uninstall to proceed. After any open applications are closed, the uninstallation is complete and Avast Mac Security is removed from your Mac.
  1. To remove Avast Mac Security via the uninstall wizard, download the avast_free_mac_security.dmg setup file from the button below:
  2. Open the file and select Uninstall Avast.
  3. Click Uninstall, ...and type your administrator Name and Password.
  4. When the uninstallation is complete, click Quit.
