Identity theft rarely begins with a single event. A breached email address here, a leaked phone number there, or a fraudulent charge after shopping online are all early warning signs. They’re also easy to miss until real damage has been done.
That’s why we’ve added a free tier to the Avast Secure Identity that you already know and love, and included it as a module within Avast One. It includes Dark Web Monitoring and Breach Notifications, helping you spot potential exposures without having to manually check multiple sources.
Plus, we’ve boosted our premium offering to include financial monitoring. The new Secure Identity brings dark web monitoring, financial and credit monitoring, and identity theft recovery tools together in one place, giving you a clearer view of potential threats and more support when something goes wrong.
Here’s a closer look at what these new features can do for you.
If your data is found, we’ll alert you
Data breaches happen regularly. But organizations don't always notify victims immediately, and stolen information often appears on the dark web before you even realize you've been impacted. The free version of Avast Secure Identity aims to tackle both problems.
It monitors up to three email addresses and one phone number for exposure on the dark web, including on dark web marketplaces where stolen info is commonly traded. If your details are detected, Secure Identity alerts you so you can act quickly — for example, by changing passwords linked to an exposed email address or strengthening spam protections if your phone number is leaked.
You'll also be notified if other personally identifiable information associated with your monitored email address or phone number appears in the breach. On top of that, Secure Identity also alerts you to major data breaches and provides practical guidance on the steps you can take to help protect your identity.
Upgrade to Premium for financial protection
Finding exposed information is only part of protecting your identity. With the new Avast Secure Identity, you have the option to upgrade to Premium, which we’ve expanded to include financial monitoring, including credit monitoring and a payday loan lock. Here’s a more detailed look at what we’ve added to Avast Secure Identity Premium:
-
Financial Monitoring, which gives you a single dashboard for monitoring unusual charges and other suspicious activity across all your connected bank accounts for a clearer, simpler view of your finances.
-
Credit Monitoring1, which monitors your credit files and alerts you to key changes such as new accounts, credit inquiries, credit limit changes, or missed payments. This helps you spot potential fraud early without having to check your credit manually.
-
Credit & Payday Loan Lock2, which helps stop new credit from being opened in your name. Lock your credit and block loans or new credit accounts from being opened without your approval.
With Avast Secure Identity Premium, you’ll also get access to all our pre-existing recovery features. Read on to refresh your memory.
As always, get expert help if identity theft occurs
Monitoring and alerts help you detect problems earlier, but recovering from identity theft can still be a lengthy process. Avast Secure Identity Premium includes tools designed to help you through recovery if identity theft occurs.
Here’s what you still get with Secure Identity Premium:
-
Identity Restoration Specialists, who are dedicated to helping you manage the recovery process. They assist with paperwork, phone calls, and other steps required to restore your identity and get it back in good standing. If we can’t, you can claim back up to 12 months3 of your Premium subscription costs.
-
Identity Theft Reimbursement Coverage for eligible identity theft expenses, stolen funds, and related costs. You can get up to $1 million4, helping reduce the financial impact of identity theft.
Whether you're monitoring for data breaches or looking for additional support if identity theft occurs, Avast Secure Identity helps you detect identity threats earlier and respond with greater confidence. Now available as part of Avast One.
