What Windows 10 end of life means for you
Windows 10 end of life (EOL) marks the end of Microsoft’s support for the Windows 10 operating system, meaning you’ll no longer receive security patches, enhancements, or technical support. To help close the security gap, get robust cybersecurity software from Avast. Windows 10 is still supported in all our updates, so you can continue to get the latest protection with our Windows 10 security software.
There’s also the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program available until October 13, 2026. This gives you critical and important security updates if you’re running Windows 10, version 22H2. However, it doesn’t come with technical support or feature improvements. If you’re a US-based customer, you can enroll in the ESU program for $30. Or, cash in 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points, or sync your PC settings after signing in to your Microsoft account.
EU customers are eligible for ESU enrollment and device updates through October 2026, as long as their PC meets specific requirements. To qualify, the device must be running Windows 10 version 22H2 and linked to a Microsoft account. If you’re not signed in to a Microsoft account, updates will end after 60 days.
