Avast 2015: Using the SafeZone

About Avast SafeZone

SafeZone is a tool in Avast Premier 2015, Avast Internet Security 2015, and Avast Pro Antivirus 2015. It is especially designed to protect sensitive data when you bank or shop online. It enables you to browse the web in a secure environment that is invisible to the rest of your system. It prevents any hidden spyware or key-logging software from collecting your private information.
Access this feature in Tools → SafeZone.
Set preferences for the SafeZone in Settings → Tools → SafeZone → Customize.

How to switch to SafeZone manually

When you visit a banking or shopping site recognized by Avast, or a site in your custom list, by default you are prompted to use the SafeZone browser.
You can open the SafeZone anytime manually:

  1. You can right-click the Avast system tray icon and select Switch to SafeZone from the menu,
    ...or double-click the Avast icon on your desktop and go to Tools → SafeZone.

  2. The SafeZone opens in full screen and a secure web browser starts automatically.

  3. When you are done, click the cross () in the right upper corner to return to your normal desktop.

When you end the session, your browser settings and any files downloaded are saved and will be available the next time you open SafeZone.


How to set Avast to automatically switch to SafeZone

When you visit a banking or shopping site recognized by Avast, or a site in your custom list, by default you are prompted to use the SafeZone browser.
To add websites to the list:

  1. Open the Avast user interface and go to Tools → SafeZone
  2. Click an empty field and type the URL. Click Add.

How to reset the SafeZone

If you want to delete all custom data and settings from the SafeZone and restore its default state, you can reset it in Settings. This action removes all bookmarks, cookies, and browsing history. It can also solve some issues of difficulty starting the SafeZone browser.

  1. Open the Avast user interface and select Settings.

  2. Go to Tools → SafeZone → Customize

    ...and click Reset SafeZone at the bottom of the window.
  3. Click Yes to confirm the action.
