Avast Call Blocker is an app that helps you avoid unwanted calls, including those from numbers you may not recognize as spam.

Each time you receive a phone call, Call Blocker checks the number against a database of known spam callers as well as any numbers you specify on your personal blocklist. If the number appears on either list, Call Blocker alerts you or automatically blocks the call according to your settings.

How is Call Blocker different from the Apple call blocking feature and similar apps?

In addition to standard call blocking functionality, Call Blocker detects unsolicited calls from numbers you may not recognize based on a database of known spam callers.

Unlike other call blocking apps, Call Blocker does not require access to your personal contacts or any of your personal details.

Does Call Blocker need access to my contact list or other personal details?

No. Call Blocker does not require access to your contacts or any of your personal information in order to detect and block unsolicited calls.

How can I provide feedback or ask for help?

If you have something to tell us or need help using Call Blocker, contact us directly from the Settings section of the app by tapping Customer Support.

How does Call Blocker detect and manage spam calls?

Call Blocker maintains a growing database of spam numbers. If you receive a call from a number in our database, we either warn you that the call may be unsolicited or block the call automatically, depending on your settings.

By default, the Notify me of spam calls option is turned on. To automatically block calls from this database, turn this option off in Settings. When this option is turned off, you will have no record of any attempts to contact you from these numbers.

How do I block specific telephone numbers?

To prevent unwanted calls, firstly add the relevant numbers to your personal blocklist. You can do so in the following ways:

  • Tap Block number on the main screen of the app, type the telephone number into the text box, then tap Next.
  • Go to Settings, tap Personal blocklist, then tap Add (+). Select Add number to type the telephone number manually, or Add from Contact List to select a saved number.

To automatically reject calls from numbers on your blocklist, go to Settings and turn off the Notify me of incoming calls from numbers on my personal block list setting. If you do not turn this option off, you will still receive calls from numbers on your blocklist, but with warning text so that you can decide whether or not to accept the call.

What settings are available for blocking calls?

By default, Call Blocker is configured to notify you of calls from blocked numbers while giving you the option to accept or decline them. All calls appear in your Apple call log marked as a number from your personal blocklist or our spam database.

If you prefer to completely block calls, you can manage the following options in Settings:

  1. Notify me of spam calls: turning off this option blocks calls from numbers in the Call Blocker spam database.
  2. Notify me of incoming calls from numbers on my personal block list: turning off this option blocks calls from numbers on your blocklist.

If you completely block calls from your blocklist or our spam database, you don't receive calls or any notifications of attempted calls from these numbers.

Can I check a log of blocked calls?

If you configure Call Blocker to automatically reject calls, all attempts to contact you will be completely blocked and you won't have any record of these attempted calls.

If you do not completely block calls, answered and unanswered calls appear in your Apple call log, but are marked as numbers from your personal blocklist or our spam database.

You can manage your call blocking options in Settings.

What is the whitelist?

Call Blocker manages a database of numbers that have been reported as spam. When you receive a call from a number in this database, we warn you that the call is likely to be spam. If a number you want to receive calls from is flagged as spam, add the number to your whitelist.

Go to Settings, tap Whitelist, then tap Add (+). Select Add number to type the telephone number manually, or Add from Contact List to select a saved number.

Note: If you configure Call Blocker to automatically reject calls from our database, you will not be notified of attempts to call you from these numbers. You can manage your call blocking options in Settings.

Numbers that you whitelist may remain in our spam database but you will receive calls from them without any issue or warning.

How do I edit a number in my blocklist or whitelist?

Follow these steps to edit a number in your blocklist or whitelist:

  1. Tap the Settings icon at the top-right of the app interface.
  2. Tap Personal blocklist or Whitelist (depending on which list you want to manage).
  3. Press the number that you want to edit, tap Edit, correct the number, then press Save.

The number is updated.

How do I remove a number from my blocklist or whitelist?

You can easily unblock numbers that you no longer want to reject, or remove numbers from your whitelist. Follow these steps:

  1. Tap the Settings icon at the top-right of the app interface.
  2. Tap Personal blocklist or Whitelist (depending on which list you want to manage).
  3. Swipe the number left, then tap the red Delete option that appears.

The number is no longer in the list.

What are the system requirements for Call Blocker?

The minimum requirements for you to install and run Call Blocker are an Apple iPhone 5S running iOS 10 or higher.

How can I download and install Call Blocker?

Call Blocker for iOS is available from the App Store. Follow these steps to download the app:

  1. Open App Store from the apps screen of your device.
  2. Search for Avast Call Blocker.
  3. Open the Avast Call Blocker page, tap Get, and if asked for permissions, select Accept.
  4. Tap Open when the download is complete.
  5. Tap Continue to confirm that you have read and accept the terms of the AVAST End User License Agreement.

Call Blocker is installed on your device. Open the app to begin the license activation process.

How can I uninstall Call Blocker?

If you no longer want to use Call Blocker, you need to cancel your subscription before uninstalling the app from your device.

After your subscription is cancelled, follow these steps to uninstall the app:

  1. Press and hold the Avast Call Blocker icon on the main screen of your device for a few seconds.
  2. Tap the small X which appears in the upper-left corner of the icon.
  3. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your device.

Call Blocker is no longer installed on your device.

How do I activate my Call Blocker license?

When you open Call Blocker for the first time, tap Start free trial to commence a one month trial of the app.

If you already have a license, tap Already purchased?. Call Blocker checks the Apple ID you are signed into on your device and activates any existing license that is connected with your account.

Licenses can be purchased from the App Store. Each license is valid for 12 months and is auto-renewable.

How do I set up Call Blocker on my device?

After you activate your license or free trial of Call Blocker, you need to perform the following steps to enable the app to work on your device:

  1. Tap the Settings icon at the top-right of the app interface.
  2. Tap Phone, then tap Call Blocking & Identification.
  3. Turn Call Blocker on.

The app is now ready to use on your device.

How can I confirm the validity of my Call Blocker license?

To verify when your license is due to expire, go to Settings and check the date next to Subscribed until. When your license expires, you are automatically invited to renew your subscription. If you do not already have a license, purchase one from the App Store.

Can I use my subscription on multiple devices?

Yes, you can use your license on up to five devices. Your Call Blocker subscription is connected to your Apple account and activates automatically on all devices that you use your account on when you install the app. If you do not already have a license, purchase one from the App Store.

How do I cancel a Call Blocker subscription?

Follow these steps to cancel your subscription:

  1. Open your device settings, and tap iTunes & App Store.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top of the screen, then tap View Apple ID.
  3. Tap Manage under Subscriptions.
  4. Tap your Call Blocker subscription to open more details.
  5. Turn off Automatic Renewal for the subscription.

Your subscription is cancelled and will stop at the end of the current billing cycle. You can now uninstall the app from your device.
