Do I need to use the online management platform with the Premium Business Security product?
For the Premium Business Security package, the online management platform is optional. You can choose to install Avast Business Antivirus on each device independently without management capabilities. However, our online management platform, the Avast Business Hub, allows you to manage all your devices from one place. It provides robust reporting, alerting, device, policy management, network discovery, remote access and support tools, and more. As your business and security needs grow, the Avast Business Hub allows you to get other services such as Patch Management and Cloud Backup, and manage all your Avast solutions from one platform.
Can I use the Premium Business Security product with the Avast Business On-Premise console?
No, Avast Premium Business Security is only available with our online management platform, the Avast Business Hub.
What are the Avast Business Hub system requirements?
The following browsers are supported by our online management platform, the Avast Business Hub (latest versions recommended):
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
Can I manage my mobile devices from the online management platform?
Avast Mobile Protection for iOS and Android devices is included with your Avast Small Business Cybersecurity Solution. However, it is an unmanaged service. At this time, mobile devices cannot be managed from our online management platform, the Avast Business Hub.
Do we need antivirus for our iOS devices?
Yes, you need an antivirus for iPhones, but there’s some nuance to that answer.
Despite what many believe, iPhones are also susceptible to viruses, although it would be unfair to say their situation is comparable to PCs, or even Android devices. It is true that iPhones have much stronger built-in protection than other connected devices, which renders the need for traditional antivirus software a little moot. But that said, there are still threats and viruses that manage to sneak through the robust internal security of your employees’ iPhones and iPads. This is why it’s helpful to have specialized security software that complements your employees’ phone security, rather than something that would try to replace it. That way, your employees have complete protection from any and all threats.
Why do Android devices need antivirus protection?
Android phones and tablets need strong antivirus software because Android ransomware, spyware, and other malware is on the rise. Without Android security software, your employees’ phones may get infected with malware.
Avast also protects phones with automatic Wi-Fi network security checks. And should your employees’ phones or tablets get stolen, we’ll help you lock your device, wipe any sensitive data, and track its location.
Why isn’t Android’s built-in antivirus enough?
Android has several built-in security features to protect devices from hackers and malware, but without third-party antivirus protection, they’re not enough to protect your employees from all the different kinds of threats out there.
Android can quickly check if apps are safe, but it’s not a reliable antivirus solution against new and emerging threats.
Android runs apps in an isolated “sandbox” where they can’t access other portions of your employees’ devices without their permission. However, many users accidentally give apps more permissions than they need, and this can allow malware to spread across their devices.
Malicious apps sometimes make it onto Google Play, where they’re downloaded by thousands of people before they’re caught. Unofficial app storefronts are often less secure than Google Play, which increases your employees' risk.
Your employees will always be safer with specialized antivirus software like Avast on their Android devices. It’ll detect and block malware before it can infect their device, and if they’re already dealing with an issue, Avast will remove the malware from their Android device and prevent future infections.
