1. Notice

Since 2024, Avast has been in discussions with two individual past users (Lucy Paley and Claudio Pollack) of Avast software programmes regarding the use of customer browsing histories and other data. The programmes in question are Avast Online Security, Avast Secure Browser, Avast Antivirus – Mobile Security and Virus Cleaner, Avast Free Antivirus and Avast Premium Security (“Avast Programmes”) and AVG branded software programmes (“AVG Programmes”).

Ms Paley and Mr Pollack sought compensation on their own behalf and on behalf of a class of similarly situated users, for the alleged collection of customer browsing data and its sale to third parties in relation to the period between 1 August 2014 and 30 January 2020 from users of Avast Programmes and 30 September 2016 and 30 January 2020 from users of AVG Programmes (together “Eligible Users”).

The discussions have now been resolved and we have agreed to offer Eligible Users a two-year free subscription upgrade. This offer is open for five months (from 27 August 2026) to the first 120,000 Eligible Users who come forward to register their interest. The software upgrade is worth £84.99 per year at current prices.

This offer is made without any acceptance of liability for the allegations made by Ms Paley and Mr Pollack. To accept the above free software offer, Eligible Users are required to agree not to sue Avast.

2. How to register your interest

• Email Avast_Claims_UK@avast.com to register your interest in claiming the two-year free subscription upgrade.
• Include your full name and the email address you used when registering, purchasing, or downloading an Avast product or AVG product during the Relevant Period.
• Attach proof of download or installation (for free products) or purchase (for premium products) or other supporting documentation showing your Avast or AVG product registration, purchase, or download during the Relevant Period. This may have been sent to you via email and include an order ID.

We will validate your claim against Avast’s records. You should expect to receive a response within 3-4 weeks, although most claims will be validated sooner. If validated, you will receive instructions and a unique code to obtain your free software download.

Important: If your claim is validated, you will receive a further email from Avast_Claims_UK@relativity.one asking you to complete the release waiver required to receive your free software subscription. Please add this address to your safe/trusted senders list and check your spam or junk folder if you do not see the email in your inbox over the next 3-4 weeks.
